A few years back, at Myles Nelson McKenzie Design, we were asked to developed a home addition design to compliment the existing cottage country home.
This particular home style is a west coast cottage home style, which is so appropriate for the small community of Corona Del Mar. It’s a California beach community.
As part of the project scope our clients in Corona Del Mar wanted to continue the existing home style, thru-out the new addition.
They already had a beautiful small cottage country home and added a home addition a few years earlier. But, now needed a new two-car garage and separate laundry room. We also designed a large family-media room and guest suite for the second floor above the new garage.
The proposed home addition as illustrated below on the existing site plan.
A few of the exterior cottage home design features are the low slope roof structure with match shake like shingles.
The natural wood shake siding, along with the stucco base to match the existing residence. And of course, window shutters, painted to match the existing shutters.
