Custom Mountain Home-Flagstaff, Arizona

In 2008, a custom mountain home was designed for a property in the golfing community of Flagstaff Ranch by Myles Nelson McKenzie Design.

We had the great pleasure of designing and developing construction plans for this two-story custom home. The clients had chosen a property that was long narrow low-sloping lot.  Although, it did have a very large side facing presence to the next street of Pack Saddle.  This gave us the capability of having large exterior decks that flowed to the new large front entry.

This two-story mountain home residence is little over 3700 square feet in inhabitable space. It also has a large four car garage that is connected to the home. The large exterior decks cover just a little over 1000 square feet in space.

Exterior materials and colors specified for this custom mountain home.

The exterior materials that were specified for this new custom mountain home, which is located in Flagstaff Arizona,  needed to conform to the design guidelines and specifications of Flagstaff Ranch.  Therefore, we designed the exterior of the residence to encompass board and batten wood siding with irregular cut wood shakes.

In addition, the use of fieldstone was used on the large front entry. We also incorporated the field stone on the residence’s fireplace chimney, along with the pilasters of the exterior deck.

Noteworthy, we specified and incorporated large bi-fold doors systems from Sierra Pacific Doors and Windows for the great room and nook area of the residence. The opening space for each of these bi-fold door systems when fully opened is 12 feet in width by 8 feet in height.

For the exterior colors, we incorporated soft color tones from the near by forrest for the exterior colors. Added red color accents for the windows, doors and the main entry roof top.
