A modern desert home design for the Sonoran desert of Arizona from Myles Nelson McKenzie Design. From the original concept design, we develop the design further. Upon approval of the new desert home design, the construction plans for our new desert home were developed.
Sonoran Desert Home Concept Design
For the hillside property, we created a concept home design to capture the spectacular valley views.
This home design has contemporary and modern design elements that were incorporated into the original home concept.
Additionally, in the design phase, consideration was given to the hillside property. As well as the existing natural desert vegetation.
A plan was developed to relocate the larger vegetation, such as the Saguaro cactus. This was for the purpose of keeping the property looking undisturbed as possible.
Also, the underground level was designed to keep the footprint of the building to a minimum.
A slightly elevated level was developed for the main floor level of the home.

On the subterranean level of this modern Sonoran desert home design, a large garage was created for the automobiles of the owner. A cool temperature storage space was also designed on the below-grade floor level.
The size of the main floor level is 3803 square feet. On the above-grade main floor level, there is a great room, along with a chef-style kitchen that has spectacular valley views.
The remaining area of the first-floor level has three bedrooms and three and one-half baths. A large linen and storage closet, along with a large laundry room.
Natural light and ventilation are brought into the residence by the resident’s large glazing door systems at both ends of the house. Additionally, roof skylights have been strategically placed for additional natural light for the home’s interior spaces. As well as, the exterior front patio deck.
