At Myles Nelson McKenzie Design, we designed a modern ADU for our clients in El Cerrito, California. Many of our clients have expressed their desire to move away from living in houses with dark, walled-off spaces that lack natural light.
Therefore, our ADU clients specifically requested a bright, airy, modern, and easily accessible ADU designed to complement their rear yard.
Modern ADU Design Features
The spacious and contemporary ADU floor plan was designed to maximize natural light. It has an open layout and a covered front porch screened in by a high enclosure fence. Thus providing privacy to its occupants.
The floor plan showcases an expansive open space with a high-sloped ceiling, creating a sense of openness and airiness. A spacious, luxurious bathroom features a doorless walk-in shower for a modern and comfortable feel. The large walk-in closet also offers abundant storage space, perfect for keeping everything organized and readily accessible.
The exterior of the Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) was designed with clean and elegant lines. Creating a modern and sophisticated look. Two exterior materials were used: smooth stucco and 5V Crimp metal roofing panels for the roofing and exterior walls. Adding a touch of durability and contemporary style to the overall design.
