Myles Nelson McKenzie Design has created a new modern farmhouse design for our clients in Saskatchewan, a central province in Canada. The property is in a rural village, Bengough, near the Big Muddy Badlands of Saskatchewan. The design is intended to complement the rural village life of the surrounding farming community. Saskatchewan is known for its beautiful long-day summers and pristine winter environment.

Concept Modern Farm House Design
When we begin a new project, we first create a rough concept design. Based on that initial sketch or sketches, we further develop the design to meet our client’s specific requirements. This process helps us refine and finalize our modern farmhouse Canada design, which you can see in the finished construction plan elevations below.

Farmhouse Design Features
The farmhouse design for this Saskatchewan property has 1480 square feet of livable space. Additionally, on the second floor, there is 876 square feet of loft space, for a total of 2307 square feet of livable space.
The main entry on the first floor is located on the side of the house. This is because the property is a long and narrow lot that is naturally protected by the surrounding trees.
The house features a master suite with a walk-in closet, a spacious bathroom, and an additional bedroom with its own walk-in closet. A large walk-in pantry is located beside the chef-style kitchen.

The modern home design has an open vaulted ceiling in both the kitchen and the large great room. It also opens to the second-floor loft. Towards the end of the first floor, a mudroom provides rear property access. Adjacent to it, there is a large exterior deck for outdoor activities.
The great room and kitchen are open to the loft above and are accessible by a decorative metal spiral staircase.
On the second-floor loft, the layout will be a game room/art studio with plenty of storage space. Additionally, a powder room is on the second-floor loft.
Imagine waking up to the sound of gentle waves lapping against the shore as the sun rises over the serene beauty of a Canadian lake. This floor plan design is ideal for a vacation home. With ample space for relaxation and entertainment, it is perfect for creating unforgettable memories with family and friends.
Exterior Elevation Plans

We are using stained horizontal siding on both ends of the house for the exterior of this modern farmhouse design. The side walls are made of black standing seam metal roofing material. The metal standing seam material continuously runs down from the roof to the side of the residence, as shown in the illustration.
This modern Canadian farmhouse design has elements similar to Icelandic or European cabins. See the image reference below.
