A new custom home design by Myles Nelson McKenzie Design for our clients in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. The new home will be located on the northwest end of Hilton Head Island. The new three-story residence has a total inhabitable space of 3502 square feet.
New Custom Home Design Features
Because of the Lowcountry’s high tide levels and hurricane surge flooding, many of the homes in the Lowcountry, such as our new custom home design, have raised the first-floor level. They are usually built on pilings (piers) or above large open crawlspaces.
The exterior homestyle of the new residence is designed with traditional southern Lowcountry design elements. This new home design has classic southern details and functional and elegant design elements. It features wide, inviting front and rear porches, perfect for enjoying warm evenings.
The new home design has high ceilings and large windows, allowing for plenty of natural light and creating an airy, spacious feel. The architectural accents, such as decorative moldings and woodwork, add to the home’s timeless beauty, making it a perfect blend of style and comfort.
Other exterior features include broad-standing seam metal hip and gable end roofs, red brick with white sand mortar joints, and stucco veneer made with Tabby shells. For durability, the trim, board-and-batten vertical siding, and shake siding will be from James Hardie. Their cement fiberboard siding material is the best.
The lush landscaping around the property enhances the charm and creates a tranquil retreat.
Floor Plans
Follow the wide front staircase up to the main floor of the residence. This is where the primary residence entry is located, adjacent to the large front porch. And for those summer nights enjoying the cool breeze from the Atlantic, a large rear screened-in porch is a great place to relax and enjoy the evenings.
A secondary bedroom and bathroom, the master bedroom suite, a large great room, the dining room, and an open chef-style kitchen are all located on the main floor. Two-bedroom suites and a third bedroom with two full baths are developed for the floor space on the upper floor. Plenty of storage space and workstation space are also on this floor level.
