Myles Nelson McKenzie Design created a classic southern home design. The new residence was developed for three acres with classic Lowcountry scenery. The project site is set in the northern rural area of Charleston, South Carolina.
The southern home design complements the rural setting. It creates a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing environment within the grand live oaks.
Floor Plans
The first floor of the Southern home design has a traditional grand front porch. From there, you enter a two-story vaulted entry area. The study is to the right of the entry area, and beyond that are the great room and kitchen. Near the kitchen are the back kitchen and laundry room. Next to that is the owner’s entrance and the hall to the garage.
On the left side of the floor plan, you’ll find the master bedroom suite. Complete with a full master bath and closet. At the rear of the home is a large wraparound screened-in porch with an outdoor fireplace within the screened-in porch. The size of the first floor is 2060 ft.², and the garage is 575 ft.².

2nd Floor Plan
As you walk up the second-floor staircase, a large family room awaits, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for family gatherings or relaxation after a long day. This versatile space seamlessly leads to a spacious open deck, where one can enjoy fresh air and picturesque views—ideal for outdoor entertaining, morning coffee, or evening stargazing.
In addition to the family room, the second floor features two additional bedrooms, each equipped with full bathrooms and ample closets. This thoughtful design ensures privacy and convenience for family members or guests. The bedrooms are designed to be comfortable retreats, complete with natural light and sufficient space for furnishings.
The second-floor level spans an impressive 1,263 square feet, contributing to a combined residence square footage total of 3,323 square feet. The generous layout not only maximizes living space but also enhances the home’s overall functionality. Perfect for a growing family or anyone who appreciates spacious living. With such well-thought-out features, this home provides both comfort and practicality. As a result, it effectively accommodates various lifestyles and preferences.
