Our clients in Paso Robles California were looking for a new custom home for their growing family. A classical period home style was suggested.
For the area of Paso Robles, we recommended a Spanish Colonial Revival home style. It is such an appropriate home style for the casual Southern California lifestyle and climate.
In the early nineties, Myles McKenzie had the privileged to study Mr. Wallace Neff’s hand-drawn construction plans in the Huntington library archive. The Huntington library archive is located in San Marino California, which is near Pasadena California.
For Mr. Neff, his architectural style was influenced by the Spanish colonial architecture that he studied in Spain. During his time, he was once considered to be one of only a couple architects developing the Spanish Colonial architectural style in California. This style of home at this time was then referred to as the “California” style.
Spanish Colonial Revival-Custom Home Design Features
With inspiration from some of Mr. Neff’s projects, a new concept design was developed for our clients with a proposed combined inhabitable space of 4000 square feet.
The proposed square footage of the 1st floor is 2063 square feet. It consists of a large grand entry hall, living room, and dining room that opens to the front large outdoor terrace.
As you view the rear half of the 1st floor, it has a large open space for the family room and chef-style kitchen. The office or study space on the 1st floor can also be used as a guest suite. The two-car attached garage is a large 645 square feet.
On the second-floor square footage is 1930 square feet. It consists of a very large master bedroom suite. A large game room separates the master bedroom from the two other auxiliary bedrooms.
